On Track to Meet Accessibility Requirements: We've got your back.
1:58

To the Higher Education Community,

The Hawkes Learning team has worked diligently to ensure accessibility compliance and our products have been improved on two fronts simultaneously:

  • Broad platform enhancements that benefit all products
  • A product-by-product review to ensure each title meets WCAG 2.1 AA standards

This Isn’t New for Us

Accessibility has been a priority at Hawkes Learning long before current compliance requirements. We design our products with students in mind, helping make your institution’s work easier every step of the way.

What You Can Count on From Us

The Hawkes Learning platform is on track to meet WCAG 2.1 AA conformance by April 24, 2026. Below are some specifics:

  • Our core learning components (Learn screens, question banks, and PowerPoints) have each been individually addressed for accessibility within our Learn-Practice-Certify framework.
  • Our company was founded by educators, and you can be confident we will continue working to provide the most equitable user experience possible. Hawkes is about making sure every student can engage with the material and learn without barriers.
  • If your institution needs documentation for its own compliance review, we will provide a Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT). Our dedicated accessibility team is happy to answer questions about specific products. Please email accessibility@hawkeslearning.com.

The Bigger Picture

Accessibility compliance can feel like a lot to manage, especially when you’re juggling vendor conversations, internal reviews, and deadlines. Our goal is to be one less thing on that list. While April 24, 2026, is a milestone for the industry, it’s not a departure from how we’ve designed our products.

As always, the Hawkes team is here to support you. Please reach out with any questions.

Warm regards,

FAQ

What is WCAG 2.1 AA?

Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, version 2.1, Level AA (WCAG 2.1 AA) is the internationally recognized standard for digital accessibility, developed by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).

It defines how websites, software, and digital content should be designed so they are accessible to people with disabilities, including those with visual, auditory, motor, or cognitive impairments.

Level AA is considered the practical benchmark for compliance and is the standard referenced in most legal and regulatory accessibility requirements — including those relevant to higher education institutions under the ADA and Section 508.

Which Hawkes Learning products and components are being addressed?

Short answer? All of them!
