What Would Happen if You Couldn’t Fail?

What happens when traditional failure is redefined? In this session, we will examine the shift from a Pass/Fail system to an ABC-NC grading model, where NC (No Credit) does not negatively impact GPA. We will explore how this approach has influenced student success in algebra intervention courses designed around the emporium model, which combines adaptive learning, mastery learning, and guided instruction. Updated data on pass rates will be shared, along with insights into course design, grading philosophy, and lessons learned. Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of the potential benefits and challenges of this grading transition.
