Andrew Browne, Valencia College
As higher education shifts toward more online and hybrid delivery models, students are navigating course materials in increasingly independent, asynchronous ways. Instructors often never even meet their students face-to-face, and learners may be engaging with content from different time zones, devices, or life circumstances. In this session, we’ll explore how plain language and intentional design can strengthen the clarity of syllabi, assignment instructions, and rubrics, ensuring students understand expectations, feel supported, and stay motivated regardless of when or where they’re learning. Clear communication isn’t just helpful in this changing educational landscape–it’s essential.
