Effectively Using Visual Teaching Methods and Real-World Examples in STEM Classrooms
Bradley Check, University of Mississippi
Many STEM classes, especially math classes, often struggle to effectively incorporate visual teaching methods and real-world examples into their curriculum. This session will briefly discuss relevant research regarding the usage of visuals and real-world problems in STEM classes. After, there will be a discussion on best practices for their implementation into STEM classes, with a goal of keeping students engaged and interested in learning more. When done effectively, these methods can help to reach many students, especially those who are struggling in or not enjoying the class they are taking.
