To correct error 1004, please perform the following steps:
Restart the computer. If the problem persists, please perform the following steps:
VERIFY THE USER DIRECTORY
| 1. | From the Start menu, browse to All Programs -> Hawkes Learning Systems -> <ProductCode> -> Help -> Advanced Configuration. |
| 2. | At the warning prompt, click OK. |
| 3. | Click on the "Startup" option on the left sidebar. |
| 4. | Look at the entry called “5. User Directory”: |
| a. | If the User Directory is blank or NULL, then browse to one of the following folders: |
Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\(Your User Name)\My Documents\Hawkes Learning Systems\<ProductCode>\
Windows Vista and 7: C:\Users\(Your User Name)\Documents\Hawkes Learning Systems\<ProductCode>\
| b. | If the User Directory has a directory name entered, browse to that folder. |
| 5. | Verify that the following six folders are located there: |
| 6. | If any of the previous 6 folders were missing, create a new folder with a matching name: |
| a. | Right click inside of the folder window, then select New -> Folder. |
| b. | Rename the new folder to match the name of one of the missing folders from step 5. |
| c. | Repeat steps a and b until all six folders are present. |
If the problem persists, perform the following steps:
MOVE USER DIRECTORY
| 1. | From the Windows Start menu, select "My Computer" in Windows XP or "Computer" in Windows Vista / 7 |
| 2. | From the list of hard drives, CDs, and USB flash drives, double click on the "Local Disk" C:\ drive. |
| 3. | Right click inside of the window, then select New -> Folder |
| 4. | Rename the folder HLSData . |
| 5. | From the Start menu, browse to All Programs -> Hawkes Learning Systems -> <ProductCode> -> Help -> Advanced Configuration. |
| 6. | At the warning prompt, click Yes. |
| 7. | Click on the Startup option on the left sidebar. |
| 8. | In the "5. User Directory" field, enter C:\HLSData . |
| 9. | Click Save, then Close. |
